Fascinated by the U.S. and love photography? Then don’t miss “AMERICA” – a unique group photography show launching at the Athens-based Can Gallery on Friday, June 10, at 8 p.m.
Six young, established Greek photographers will present their own versions of America, exhibiting images captured from the 90s to today. As French philosopher Jean Baudrillard said, “this may be just the crazy notion of a European, fascinated by an unreal America,” a mixture of photographic clichés and spot-on descriptions that illustrate what Baudrillard described as “the only primitive society we are left with,” one driven towards pure simulation and exempt from the burden of the meaning of things making it immune to the disease of ‘old Europe.”
The Can Gallery is at 42 Anagnostopoulou Street, Athens / Opening: Friday, June 10. Duration: June 10 – July 30
