After twelve days of negotiations, the three Greek sailors held captive by pirates off the coast of Nigeria were freed late Friday night.

The ordeal began back on November 16, when pirates attacked the ship named “Stelios K” in the Gulf of Guinea off West Africa.

While the pirates were boarding the ship, two sailors were somehow able to slip away and steer the boat to the port of Lagos in Nigeria, where the crew was held hostage until Friday.

According to a statement released Saturday morning, the members of the crew are safe and in good health.
