The Greek government announced on Sunday that three sailors who are Greek nationals have been held hostages for the last several days by pirates in Nigeria, off the coast of West Africa.

The drama all began weeks ago, more specifically on November 16, when the Togo-flagged vessel named ”Stelios K” was attacked by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa.

While the crew was being held hostage, two of them managed to steer the vessel safely to the port of Lagos in Nigeria.

According to the Greek authorities, all five members of the ship are in good health, and negotiations are underway to release them.

Pirate attacks in Western Africa are not anything new, and many across the world are asking for an international intervention to solve this issue.
