Colombian President Duque Meets with Greek PM Mitsotakis in New York

Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez met Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the sidelines of the the United Nations General Assembly.

The two leaders agreed that there is much room for improvement in relations between the two countries in the realms of economy, business, and culture.

For his part, Mitsotakis described Marquez “a true friend of Greece.”

Speaking exclusively to Greek Reporter the Colombian President referred to his time as a student in Greece. Watch the video.

The Colombian president invited Mitsotakis to visit the Latin American country and the Greek premier reciprocated his invitation.

At the same time, Mitsotakis asked for Colombia’s support for Greece’s candidacy as a non-permanent United Nations Security Council member for the period 2025-2026.

The two leaders discussed the political situation in Venezuela and agreed that any solution to the crisis should be based on the principles of respect for human rights and the need for progress and prosperity in Latin America.
