Greeks of South Africa to Commemorate Independence Day

The Greek community in South Africa will commemorate Greek Independence Day on Sunday March 18 in Johannesburg.

According to the Federation of the Hellenic Communities and Societies of South Africa, the celebrations will take place at the Orthodox Cathedral of Sts. Constantine and Helen at Joubert Park.

Archbishop Damaskinos will conduct the church service which will be followed by a parade and other festivities.

The Greek community in South Africa numbers about 13,000 people.
