Greek-Egyptian Tourism Forum Promotes Tourism Cooperation Between Two Countries

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and her Egyptian counterpart, Mohamed Yehia Rashed in February, the first Greek-Egyptian Tourism Forum took place in Cairo on May 23. The aim of the forum was to bring professionals from both countries and explore partnerships.

The forum was attended by 25 Greek travel agents and representatives of various sectors of the tourism market in Greece who held B2B meetings with Egyptian tourism professionals.

During the forum, representatives of the Egyptian Tourism Ministry thanked Greek Minister Kountoura for Greece’s presence and effective support to Egypt. In addition, they applauded the launch of the forum, which creates new prospects for cooperation in tourism, which will benefit both countries.

Kountoura from her side, expressed her condolences to the Egyptian people for the loss of lives on board the recent EgyptAir tragedy that crashed into the Mediterranean. Kountoura also referred to the importance of tourism as it can ensure conditions of stability, prosperity, security and development in the region.

During her visit in Cairo, Kountoura attended a meeting with her Egyptian counterpart, Mohamed Yehia Rashed, and discussed possible cooperation and initiatives between the countries regarding the promotion of tourism.
