1st Greek Tourism Workshop in Riyadh

GTW_Riyadh_2015-1A total of 127 travel agents and tour operators from Saudi Arabia participated in the 1st Greek Tourism Workshop that took place in Riyadh.

The event was held on April 19 at Burj Rafal Hotel Kempinski, in the presence of Greek Deputy Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura, members of the royal family and the government of Saudi Arabia, Greek Charge d’Affaires of the Greek Embassy in Riyadh Ilias Klouvatos and representatives from the Greek regions of Peloponnese, Crete and the South Aegean.

The 1st Greek Tourism Workshop in Riyadh aimed to open the tourist market of Saudi Arabia to Greece and strengthen the flow of high-income visitors to the country. It was a joint initiative of Tourism Today Events and Mideast Travel Worldwide in order to help Greece dynamically enter the developing and growing tourism market of Saudi Arabia. One of the reasons behind the event was the fact that Aegean Airlines has scheduled flights to Saudi Arabia, starting from July 2015.

Furthermore, Kountoura gave interviews to various foreign media, inviting Saudi Arabian travelers to visit Greece and the country’s businessmen to invest.

The 1st Greek Tourism Workshop in Riyadh was organized under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), with the support of Aegean Airlines, Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos,” the Regions pf Peloponnese, Crete and the South Aegean, as well as the Saudi Arabian Tourism Organization (Al Tayyar), which handles 40% of outbound tourism in Saudi Arabia.
