36th Cairo International Film Festival Pays Tribute to Greece

cairo-film-festival1Significant films, representative of Greek cinema, will be screened at the 36th Cairo International Film Festival that is scheduled to take place from November 9 to 18, since Greece is the guest of honor country this year.

Organizers chose to close the festival with the award-winning Greek film “Little England” by Pantelis Voulgaris.

The festival will screen the following Greek films (with English subtitles):

“Stella” (Michael Cacoyannis, 1955)
“Draco” (Nikos Koundouros, 1956)
“Never on Sunday” (Jules Dassin, 1959)
“Electra” (Michael Cacoyannis, 1962)
“To Proxenio tis Annas” (Pantelis Voulgaris, 1972)
“Happy Day” (Pantelis Voulgaris, 1976)
“1922” (Nikos Koundouros, 1978)
“The Beekeeper” (Theodoros Angelopoulos, 1986)
“Eternity and a Day” (Theodoros Angelopoulos, 1998)
“The Dust of Time” (Theodoros Angelopoulos, 2008)
“J.A.C.E.” (Menelaos Karamaghiolis, 2011)

Furthermore, Margarita Manda’s film “Forever” will participate in the festival’s competition section. It is a modern tale of two young people who are slowly dying from lack of love in 2012 Athens, which is also dying from lack of love.
