The Chinese Prime Minister is expected to visit Greece on June 18 to June 20. During his visit, the Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation between China and Greece alongside a Maritime Cooperation Forum will take place. The agreement was signed by the Secretary General of International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Panayiotis Mihalos and a delegation of the State Oceanic Administration (KDO) of the People’s Republic of China.

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras gave the first boost towards strengthening Greek-China affairs, when he visited China in May, 2013. On Monday, May, 20, the two sides met to promote further development on their bilateral cooperation and tighten the relationships between their countries.

Chen Lianzeng, head of the Chinese delegation, made a statement on the State Oceanic Administration’s research centers and institutes and informed the Greek side on the delegation’s visit to the Greek Center for Marine Research. Furthermore, he mentioned all subsectors that were tracked during this visit, that are thought to be of common interest.

Mr.Mihalos stated that the Greek Ministry of Development will organize and plan the forthcoming event, with the assistance of the Greek Foreign Ministry. The Forum’s main themes will be economic, trade and investment cooperation, while maritime cooperation will be discussed to its full extent in a separate session.
