The island of Santorini takes center stage in the Chinese romantic film “Beijing Love Story” which has had a great amount of success in theaters across China.
Several scenes of the movie were shot last summer in the renowned Greek island showcasing the idyllic, picturesque scenery and the unique view of Santorini. The movie was also supported by the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT) and the EOT secretary-general Panos Livadas traveled to China to attend a special screening of the movie. According to the producers, it will soon be screened in the U.S. as well.
The “Beijing Love Story” is the movie version of a popular Chinese television series, which recounts three intertwined love stories taking place in Beijing. The adventures and the problems of the couples bring them to Greece and the romantic island of Santorini. Renowned Chinese actors star in the movie, including Tony Leung Ka Fai and Carina Lau. The movie gathered a whopping 2.5 million viewers in China on opening night.
However, the “Beijing Love Story” is not the only Chinese movie shot in Santorini. Another Chinese movie, entitled “One and a Half Summers,” containing scenes shot in the Greek island will soon be screened in Chinese theaters.
