When my friend Eirini told me about this project and that she was going to Brazil to participate in it, I was thrilled! The place (Brazil), the concept, the goal, the people all around the world, consist of something really special. Even the title of the program “Warriors Without Weapons” makes you want to learn more…

Who is Who Part 1

Warriors Without Weapons is an experiential international leadership and social entrepreneurship training program offered to youth to provide the tools needed to transform realities anywhere in the world. A training program which helps to transform the lives of people living in three underprivileged communities in Brazil. In one sentence, its goal is to make a collective dream come true! And with that, actively changing peoples’ lives!

In 32 days, the Warriors have to do collective work and learn how to make this world better. The program takes place at Santos, Sao Paolo Brazil, and there are almost 60 participants from more than 15 countries worldwide. Change is the goal.

Warriors Without Weapons is a program qualifying young people to transform realities anywhere they are. They only have to dream to make it possible. The diversity of strategies that can be used to make something real is as vast as the number of participants.

Is it something like a course?

Yes, Warriors Without Weapons is a course, but totally different from the sometimes boring traditional ways of teaching. It is a 240 hour program in three different communities in Baixada Santista, with an experienced staff of facilitators and consultants. For example, how can we improve someone’s life in a favela? How can you help people living in a difficult situation, to think and act for a better tomorrow?

A super intense program!

The Warriors Without Weapons program lasts 32 days and the routine is very intense with activities in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. Each Warrior will have to make sure he is in Santos everyday from January 6 to February 6, 2014, and all participants will have only one fixed day off.

Warriors Without Weapons Rules

By the end of a month’s course, Warriors Without Weapons will have turned our collective dreams into a reality in a better way than anyone could have dreamed of. Throughout the process, all participants will be constantly asked and encouraged to cultivate a better version of themselves and, thus, relating to the community and environment around them.

The Selection Process

The YES Path, developed by Ricardo Oliveros, is the selective process for Warriors Without Weapons. It is an online game with actions in real life that encourage innovation, creativity and cooperation rather than competition. The program takes place in Santos, but the selective process is online.

• Warriors Without Weapons is ideally designed for people between 18 and 35 years-old.
• Warriors Without Weapons is a highly intense program demanding commitment and dedication. Therefore, there will not be much time left for Warriors to do other things. During their free time, they’d rather rest, take care of themselves and enjoy the company of their fellow warriors instead of having external activities.
• The program includes 240 hours of training, methodological material, accommodations, transportation during the 32 days, and in-house food (breakfast and dinner). The total cost for each warrior is R$ 11 thousand Brazilian Reais, and Instituto Elos Brasil will take responsibility for half of the cost through fundraising and partnerships. The other half is a Warriors’ responsibility. This means that if someone is accepted, he has to pay R$ 5,5 thousand Brazilian Reais. But no one has ever bowed out of the program due to a financial matter. So if you want to take part in the program, the first step is to take part in the admission process.
