The ancient Greek civilization, modern Greece, literature, the great Greek personalities and Greek culture’s influence on Western civilization were at the center of the Greek International Conference. The event was organized in Buenos Aires by the Hellenic Cultural Association “Nostos” in cooperation with the University of Belgrano, under the auspices of the Embassy of Greece in Argentina.
Twenty-two professors from universities of Argentina, Greece, Italy, Venezuela, Chile and the USA delivered speeches during the conference.
The Greek economic crisis awakened memories in Argentina as it was the main subject in a speech made by the Belgrano University professor and economist Alberto Rubio.
The conference began with the speeches of the Greek Ambassador to Argenitna, Eleni Leivaditou, President of “Nostos” Christina Tsardikos and professor Colombres Marmol.
Students of the Fashion Design School at the University of Belgrano presented modern fashion clothes based on traditional Greek costumes. They designed and sewed their clothes which they presented the last day of the conference through a fashion show.
Their first contact with Greek costumes was in April at the exhibition organized by the Hellenic Cultural Association They then started to work in groups for a period of six months until the final fashion show. Their clothes were presented in an exhibition at the university, which was completed on December, 20.
