A strict ultimatum was issued by the Patriarchate of Antioch to the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, demanding the solution to the Qatar issue in the next two months.
The official announcement of the Holy Synod of Antioch talks about a failure in the negotiations from both sides. The relations between the two Churches aren’t the best. The Holy Synod of Antioch authorized Patriarch Ioanni to do whatever is needed in the case that Jerusalem will not respond.
Last June, we believed that after the negotiations of the two Churches with the Greek government, and the delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, we were close to finding a solution; the increased tension between the two Patriarchates caused anxiety.
The official announcement reveals that the negotiations are not getting the best results up until now. The two Churches are close to the breach of their relations.
The Patriarchate of Antioch made it clear that the only solution, is that the Churches will accept its beliefs. They also said that “The Holy Synod wants a peaceful solution in the next two months.”
