Greek Woman Scammed In Pakistan

slide5fraudA Greek woman, Aliki Mougiou, is suing six men for alleged fraud in a property sale in Pakistan. On May 28, an additional district and sessions judge sought comments from the Old Anarkali (Lahore, Pakistan) SHO on a petition filed by Mougiou.

The woman had bought a plot in Pakistan some years ago but later decided to sell it. She tried to get in touch with her Pakistani contacts but they delayed the sale a lot.

As a result, she became suspicious, as she said, and went to Pakistan on May 17 to see what was happening. She took the property registration document to the department concerned, where they told her it was a forgery, as she said to the court.

When she went to the Old Anarkali SHO to lodge a complaint against the six men, the SHO refused to register an FIR. Mougiou asked the court to direct the SHO to register case against the six men.

As Mougiou told the court, it all started when a Pakistani neighbor of hers, Syed Intizar Hussain Shah, suggested she buy a property in Pakistan because she could make very good profit on it.

She believed him and gave him €8,000 on Sept. 4, 2003 and another €9,000 on Nov. 9 that year to buy a plot. To pay the remaining amount, as well as to collect the property registration documents, she was told that she needed to visit Pakistan.

Mougiou did so and went to Pakistan on Jan. 23, 2004 and the men Syed Adeel Shehzad, Syed Nazeer Hussain Shah and Mumtaz Ahmed took her to a hotel in Old Anarkali, after receiving her at the airport.

She said that she gave Nazeer Shah €10,000 and the day after she was taken to Malikwal in Mandi Bahauddin district to look at one-kanal plot of land. They gave her what she was told was the registration document for the plot and then returned to Greece.
