The Greek community of Alexandria in Egypt enjoyed a Greek Glendi on Fat Thursday night. The Reception Hall of the Greek community was packed with Greeks who attended the event. Dances, songs and the grilling of meats dominated the Greek Glendi in Alexandria.

Special guests of the event were Greek musicians from the city of Thessaloniki, such as Pavlos Parfanidis (buzuki), Maria Fragkouli (vocals), Stavros Krommidas (guitar) and Vassilis Massalas (Baglama and vocals) who kept on singing late into the night.

The Greek Consul General Christos Kapodistrias and the Greek Chairman of SAE Stephanos Tamvakis was impressed by the organization of the event.

Many elderly people stated that the event was a once in a lifetime experience, since the Greek community in Alexandria has not organized such events for many years. Members of the Greek community in Alexandria wish for a fuller revival of Greek traditions.

The last Fat Thursday event in Alexandria signals the advent of more events in the future organized by the Greek community, that still hopes for the better future of Greeks around the world.
