“Zorba the Greek” Translated into Persian

“Zorba the Greek” a novel written by the Greek author Nikos Kazantzakis, first published in 1946, is now translated into Persian by Mahmoud Mosahab. It accounts the life of a young Greek man who tries to distance the world he is confined in.

The novel was adapted into a successful 1964 film under the same name as well as a 1968 musical, Zorba.

Kazantzakis is a well-known writer in Iran with many of his novels already available in Persian, such as “The Last Temptation of Christ”, “Christ Recrucified”, and “The Fratricides”.

“Zorba the Greek” has been translated into Persian many times by different publishers. Among translators of Zorba the Greek are Mohammad Ghazi and Teimoor Safari. Mahmoud Mosahab’s translation was first published in 2005 by Negah Publishing House.
