Somali Pirates Release Greek Vessel After Receiving Ransom

Somali pirates have released a Greek operated vessel and its crew of 21 Filipino seamen following the payment of a ransom.  The maritime watchdog Ecoterra International reported this on Monday, cited by AFP.
The Panama flagged, Liberian owned MV VOC Daisy, which was hijacked on April 21st in the Gulf of Aden “has now been confirmed to sail free” stated Ecoterra, an environmental NGO monitoring regional maritime activity.
“The vessel is now sailing to Salalah in Oman and all 21 Filipinos are well, given the circumstances,” Ecoterra added.
The watchdog said the bulk carrier has been free since at least Saturday following the delivery of a ransom by a vessel believed to belong to a Greek security company operating in the area with two ships.
