The Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Theofilos, visited Phanar on Saturday.
“We arrived in the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople, with the purpose to meet His All Holiness and discuss issues, concerning both the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Ecumenical Patriarchate, but also more general issues, regarding Greek Orthodox churches” stated His Beatitude after his meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch.
Referring to the new conditions in the Greek Orthodox Church of Constantinople, the Patriarch noted that “they are much more favorable in terms of Turkish authorities”, in comparison with conditions in Jerusalem.
“Today, the Patriarchate plays a very important role in international politics because it is inextricably linked to Jerusalem” also stated the Patriarch. “Thanks to the Patriarchate, the Old City of Jerusalem, at least maintains its natural population regime”, he added.
Yesterday, the Patriarch of Jerusalem inaugurated the refurbished Church of St. George, in Nichoria, the glebe of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem in Nichoria, performed the Liturgy along with the Ecumenical Patriarch.
