Tsouri Proposed as Head of Diaspora Hellenism

Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou has proposed PASOK MP Elpida Tsouri for president of the Committee on Diaspora Hellenism, previously named Committee on Greeks Abroad. Ms. Tsouri was born on Chios in 1961 and is a mother of three. She studied Law and lived and worked on Chios. She was first elected to parliament in April 2000. In the 6th PASOK party congress held in Oct. 2001 she was elected PASOK Central Committee member. In Oct. 2001 she became deputy health minister and in the summer of 2005 she took over as PASOK’s merchant marine committee secretary.
