Greek Fashion Guru Kiki Divaris Passes Away

kiki-divarisGreek fashion designer Kiki Divaris passed away on Saturday, December 5, at the age of 90. Divaris was being hospitalized in a private clinic in Zimbabwe, suffering from pneumonia.

During her long life, Kiki Divaris worked as a fashion designer, while also being involved with charity organizations. She supported the Miss Zimbabwe Pageant from the day of its inception and was known for making the dress worn by the first black Miss Zimbabwe.

“Today is a day that changes the dynamics of Miss World Zimbabwe and the Miss Zimbabwe Trust. This is my tribute to the ‘Queen Maker,’ a vivacious woman. She was a great mentor; she did not have a bone in her body that had jealousy. Kiki reminded me of the epitome that was Princess Diana and the greatness to give love to make Zimbabwe a better place to live,” said Marry Mubaiwa, Miss Zimbabwe Trust chairperson, who replaced Divaris in the Trust three years ago.

Divaris was also the president of the Greek Hellenic Ladies’ Association and chairperson of the Child Survival and Development Foundation.
