India Eyes Thessaloniki, Volos Investments

assets_LARGE_t_942_43461305At a Feb. 1 meeting with Merchant Marine and Aegean Minister Costas Mousouroulis, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur reportedly showed his country had a strong interest to invest in the Greek ports of  Thessaloniki and Volos.

During the talks of the two officials that took place in Vassiliadis Coast,  a building housing Services of the Ministry of Mercantile, and in the presence of both the Indian Ambassador Tsewang Topden and the Vice Admiral Dimitrios Mpantias, Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard along with service agents, the maritime co-operation between the two countries was decided.

It was also decided that they will join efforts to combat piracy to protect ships that face danger off the coast of Africa, particularly Somalia, where pirates have targeted a number of vessels in the past and held crews for ransom.
