Greek Feta Ad in Israel Not So Funny

Greek feta cheese is one of the country’s most popular exported products all over the world. Israelis have also the chance to indulge themselves in the taste of the white Greek cheese. But they may have gone a little too far by trying to promote feta from a humorous perspective.

The video might leave you thinking “What was this advertiser thinking when he was told to make a feta ad?” When Greek kamaki meets syrtaki, the result should be funny, but the ad teetered on the edge of poking fun at a dangerous situation.

The protagonist is a charming young Greek man trying to seduce a female sitting opposite to him at a tavern. In a bid to impress the beautiful lady, he chokes on an olive and stands up to breathe. By accident, he breaks a dish and everybody starts dancing the Zorbas’ syrtaki!

He recovers when someone slaps him on the back – just in time – while everybody including the woman believes he is the soul of party. It’s enough to make you concentrate on the olive and forget the feta.
