Linguist Christos Cleris Honored at Galatasaray University by International Conference

Over the last two days, our eminent Istanbul-born linguist Christos Cleris has been honored at the University of Galatasaray in Turkey (July 23-24, 2012).

The Conference’s main theme was limitations and freedom of language. Many more Greeks of the academic community such as Stavros Skopeteas, Evaggelia Adamou, Eleni Sella in cooperation with Maro Mavropoulou, Rika Rompopoulou and Christina Sanlioglou, Eina Marmaridou, Stavros Katsanebas, Stavros Kamaroudis and Dimitra Delli attended the conference on Cleris’ side.

There was also a special tribute to also Istanbul-born linguist and dictionary writer Bambiniotis who has also served as a Minister of Education. The two  famous and respected linguists Cleris and Bambiniotis have written the definitive book on the subject, The Grammar of the Modern Greek Language, which serves as a valuable handbook for those learning Greek.
