Women’s Greek Water Polo Team Scores Bronze at World League in China

The Greek women’s water polo national team, having many new athletes in their composition, managed to win the bronze medal at the World League, which took place in Changshu, China.

The Greek team beat the host country 8 to 7 and finished third in the League, proving that there is still future for water polo in Greece, despite many difficulties hindering the sports mission’s goals.

George Morphesis is the coach of the Greek team, while Alkystis Avramidou and 17-year-old Stefania Haralambidou excelled in the event, having 3 and 2 goals respectively.

This is the fourth medal for Greece at the World League, after the gold won in Kirishi, Russia in 2005, and two bronze medals in Montreal and San Diego in 2007 and 2010.

The American women’s water polo team won the gold medal in the League, beating Australia in the finals.
