The Greek Woman Who Founded the First Greek-Cypriot Community in Bahrain

Mrs. Iro Smith, a certified professional esthetician, make-up artist and permanent make-up artist who has studied in Greece, Paris, the Far East and the USA, founded the first Greek-Cypriot Community in Bahrain, in order to help young unemployed Greeks find a job in Saudi Arabia.

Iro Smith, a strong woman from northern Greece, is a member of CIDESCO and internationally known for her presentations in many conferences and exhibitions around the world. Mrs. Smith has been practising the art of permanent make-up since 1990, and in co-operation with dermatologists and plastic surgeons she provides her expert solutions for cosmetic applications and medical corrections. Mrs. Smith is the founder of the company IRO SMITH – Wake up with Make-up, with branches in Greece, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Dubai / UAE.

Mrs. Iro Smith has touched the lives of at least 7500 satisfied clients with before and after pictures to prove it, and hundreds of written testimonials thanking her for the improvement of their wellbeing.

“Humanity has not yet been lost. I believe we must help our fellow people. Our country is going through a tough period and any of us that have the ability should try to support the hard-working and talented youth of Greece,” explains Iro to “Espresso of Sunday”.

She comes from Kavala and she was raised in a middle-class family fighting to make a living. During her youth she worked in her grandfather’s vineyards.

“My goal is to unite Greeks, Cypriots and expatriates so that Greek culture can be kept alive in the Arab countries, and to help Greeks who wish to find a job here. Professions such as engineers, doctors and teachers are particularly needed. Whoever is interested can communicate with us at irosmith@hotmail.com,” Iro explains.

Iro is in Greece lately, expecting many arrivals in early July. She is staying in Porto Heli, where her daughter will get married in the summer and where her family owns a residence and a spa facility. Wealthy tycoon aristocrats from Dubai, Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries have confirmed they’ll visit her in the summer, as she happily announces.
