Greek Students Awarded in Cairo

Press Consultant of the Greek Embassy in Cairo, Stamatina Ioannidou, transferred the message of Greek Deputy Minister of Interior and Government spokesman George Petalotis. His message was for teachers, representatives of Greeks abroad, students of Greek schools in Cairo and their parents. The Deputy Minister has recently been to Cairo, but didn’t visit any Greek schools due to his extendible departure for Greece. In his letter he mentioned that Hellenism has been based for years, on education, history, language and tradition. Greeks of the Diaspora are part of the existence and the survival of the Greek element.  The support of Greek education is one of Greece’s priorities. He also said that young people and their teachers are those who nourish the hope for the protection of Greek heritage. Greek Ambassador in Egypt, Christodoulos Lazaris, who was present, talked to the students of the two historic schools of Cairo, Achillopouleio and Abeteios, for the importance of being an excellent student. After that, he congratulated students with good performances, underlining the important role of the Greek community and the teachers for the maintenance of the Greek language and heritage. The event took place at the small theatre of Abeteios School, where the best students were awarded with the initiative of Mr. Petalotis.
