Contribution of the Greek Community to Senior Citizens in Egypt

From now onwards, the stay of senior citizens from Alexandria will be free at the Greek Kaniskerion Old People’s Home, in the Egyptian Mediterranean city. The decision, which was received with enthusiasm by the residents of the Old People’s Home, was taken by the Community Committee during its last meeting.
As it was stated by the President of the Greek Community of Alexandria, Giannis Siokas, “the aim of the Greek Community of Alexandria is welfare and support for the disadvantaged or lonely community members and not profiting from the Home”.
The announcement was made by the President of the Greek Community of Alexandria during the Charity Lunch which was served – as every year – by the Community.
The event was honored by the presence of the Patriarch of Alexandria, Theodore II, who wished joy and health for all and awarded Anna Kalavitis for her long year and admirable contribution to the Old People’s Home.
The President of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad, Mr. Stefanos Tamvakis, Members of the Community Committee of the Greek Community of Alexandria, as well as Presidents of many Greek Associations and Bodies of the Greek Community in Alexandria were also present.
