It is estimated that there were around 15 Greek citizens in Haiti during the biblical earthquake. On the island there is also a small number of people of Greek descent. Accoring to the Greek Ministry of Foreign affairs, all of them are in good health but fear for epidemics is the strogest fear. Greece and Greek organizations around the world have already started collecting and sending products for basic needs.
The Foreign Ministry in Athens said it had set up a telephone line for Greeks seeking information about friends or relatives in the Caribbean country. The number to call is 210.368.1212/1730/1350.
